Natural How-to: Whiten your Smile
Since my obsessive tea drinking days began, my beautiful pearly whites have been looking very stained. My dentist suggested buying a teeth whitening kit, BUT I decided to take matters into my own hands and opt for a more natural teeth whitening routine!
Oil Pulling is something I have been doing for a few months and I really do think it makes a difference. In short, oil pulling is when you swish a teaspoon of oil (coconut oil is recommended) for 20 minutes before you eat or drink in the morning. Here is a full article Wellness Mama wrote about oil pulling and she also states other benefits to doing it!
Flossing is a much more common technique, although something that is often over looked. A lot of people can probably admit that they don’t actually take the time to floss their teeth each night. I’m here to admit that I too skip flossing on lazy nights, but I’ve made more of an effort this year to floss each night. Flossing is really important if you want a clean and brighter smile.
True Whitening can be hard to do naturally. I purchased these activated charcoal tablets here and I learned how to whiten my teeth with them by watching Lily Koi Hawaii’s video. In her video, she also brings up an important tip that comes with this whitening practice which is to only do it sparingly (ONCE or TWICE a MONTH!!)
SO for the moment that’s all I’ve been doing! My teeth are in no way perfect but I’m happy with the way they look and with this routine!
